Amazing Stories From San Diego's Past

  • Alpine Library Friends Association 1752 Alpine Boulevard Alpine, CA, 91901 United States (map)

Join award-winning author and storyteller Jack Innis as he recounts amazing aspects of San Diego’s past. Did you know that during WWII, Bing Crosby’s “Bomber Builders” took over the Del Mar Racetrack to build aircraft? Hear all about “Jaguarina,” a legendary professional swordswoman who fought, and defeated, every male opponent who dared challenge her skills. Finally, no San Diego Legends presentation would be complete without a few Kumeyaay tales, including “Matiweel, the Fisherman,” who set out to win the heart of a princess, but in doing so inadvertently introduced fleas, mosquitos, and red ants into the San Diego region. Autographed copies of Jack’s book, San Diego Legends Second Edition, will be available at discount.

This OASIS class is made possible by the Alpine Library Friends Association.
